As I continue to raise awareness and support for metastatic breast cancer research and resource funding, I felt a calling to host a fundraiser event for Living Beyond Breast Cancer (www.lbbc.org).
What was I thinking?! I have attended countless events over the years, and have volunteered in various roles. However, I have never organized one from beginning to end, and I had no idea how much it involves! From choosing colors to finding a venue to choosing food, there is a lot.
And then there was setting up a way for people to actually pay and donate.
Whoa … I am in over my head!
This is when I remembered … I was never asked to do this all by myself. God has placed the right people in my life at the right times. People with skills and talents I don’t possess.
Thanks to those relationships, the fundraiser luncheon is shaping up to be an amazing, fun, and inspiring afternoon!
On Tuesday, October 13, we will host a luncheon with the theme Tacos, Teal and Tatas!
We’ll hold the luncheon at the Excite! Event Venue in Highland Village, TX.
Teal because that is the color of the metastatic breast cancer ribbon that signifies hope.
Tacos because we will have a taco bar.
And tatas … well, this IS for a breast cancer organization!
All net proceeds will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, www.lbbc.org., a 501(c)3 organization that supports breast cancer patients and funds research to find a cure for this dreaded disease.
I will be the emcee and will be sharing throughout the event how breast cancer has changed my life as well as the lives of hundreds of thousands every year. I will offer hope and solutions to change some of the barriers within our healthcare system that prevent access to life-preserving medical care. Most of all, I am sharing my message of hope, resiliency, and purpose even as I live with a life-altering disease.
